EVAN'S HALF BIRTHDAY!!

Well, it's official...Evan is six months old today!!!  Where did all of those months go??  I keep telling him to stay little, but he's not listening to me!!  I must admit that I do enjoy each new stage that he is in, although I am starting to miss all of those "baby" stages already...  Here are some of the latest stats on our little guy along with some pictures from the last week...

*He is loving baby food!!  We're not feeding him a lot at this point since he is still doing great with the nursing, but he enjoys every veggie and fruit we've given him as well as oatmeal... I've even started to make homeade baby food and he really seems to like that...  

*He is now sitting up all on his own and loves to be standing up (when you're holding on to his hands).

*He's rolled a few times (both ways), but still prefers to stay on his back... He's not a tummy baby, so I think he'll be slow to crawl!!

*He still loves his Praise Baby DVD the best, but has also started to watch some Baby Einstein DVDs and enjoys them as well...

*We're working on teaching Evan some sign language so hopefully he will start picking up on that...  He's learning "mommy", "daddy", "eat", "milk", and "more" for right now...  We'll see how that goes...

*He loves to chew on his fingers, pacifier, or any toy that he can put in his mouth... And he is drooling all the time now!! We're thinking teeth are on the way soon....

*He loves to read books...  We've started to read more during the day, and each night we read Goodnight Moon right before bed....

*He is definitely showing preference to Mommy and Daddy now and frequently "puckers up" when someone else takes him...  He wants to be wherever I am during the day and doesn't like me to be out of his sight... So he moves around the house with me during the day depending on what room I'm in....

We just can't imagine life without Evan... He's such a joy!  Enjoy the pictures....

EVERYTHING is in his mouth now... And the drooling is out of control!!!   I keep thinking we're going to be seeing teeth soon, but I guess he's just not ready yet!!  

He now loves to play with his toes!  I was a little surprised he is this flexible considering his big belly :)

This month's picture in the crib was a little more difficult than previous months... He wants to be moving and grabbing at everything now...  But this was the first month that he was able to sit up all on his own!!

Uneventful Long Weekend...

Sometimes the uneventful weekends are the best... Drew had Monday off for President's Day, so we had three full days of family time... We pretty much just played around the house all weekend (along with visiting with both sets of grandparents)... They can't go more than a few days without seeing our little munchkin!!! It was lots of fun... I've included a few of the pictures we took in the past few days..

Date Night!

Well, last night Drew surprised me with our date night for Valentines Day... First we went to Panera Bread (one of my favorites and we were on a time schedule so his other choices were out of the question) for a fun dinner, then we stopped at Babies R Us to buy Evan a convertible car seat (he's almost grown out of his infant seat), and then we went to Blackhawk Church for a Point of Grace/Selah concert.. I've always been a Point of Grace fan so it was a great surprise.. It was a fun-filled and inspirational evening of music and worship... I just love my hubby :) As you can see, we had to take a more updated picture of the two of us since the most recent one we had was from last year when I was pregnant with Evan! And of course I've included some pictures of Evan from the last few days...My hubby and I before we left for Fort Wayne...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

Happy Valentines Day to my two Valentines!!  This first picture was taken on our "babymoon" in Las Vegas (when I was pregnant)...  It's pretty sad that the best picture I could find of Drew and I together was from April of last year!!  I guess our picture priorities have changed a little since Evan was born....I just took the second picture of our little Evan a couple of days ago.. I thought it was appropriate for a Valentines Day post since he was wearing red...  Drew surprised me with the Longaberger Sweetheart Basket this morning even though we agreed not to buy each other anything this year...  I guess I didn't listen either though- I made him a calendar for his desk with pictures of Evan each month...  And then we're celebrating with a date night tomorrow night...  We treasure those nights all the more since they don't happen as often with Evan!!

Okay, Okay... I've been reprimanded by several of you for no new pictures... The good news is we've just recently gotten a better internet service at our house, so I'll be updating more regularly...

Well, our little Evan continues to grow and change each and every day.... Here are some fun new facts:

-He has discovered his tongue and his voice... In the past few days, he has been "squealing" at the top of his lungs (and I must say- it's a little annoying)... He's even doing it some in the middle of the night now when he wakes up.. It's not necessarily a mad voice, just letting us know that he knows how to use his vocal chords!!
-He is loving his Bumbo seat....He loves to move from room to room with me throughout the day and watch me from his Bumbo seat... He doesn't like for me to get out of his sight too much anymore...He doesn't want to miss out on anything!
-He's wearing mostly all 12 month clothes now and he's only about 5 1/2 months old!! He's a little chunker! We'll be going to the doctor within the next week and a half to find out how much he weighs!
-He's loving his pacifier much more (which we are pleased about because that means he isn't munching on his hands and fingers- the pacifier will be much easier to take away)....
-He's sitting up pretty much all on his own now and likes to stand up (with some help in steadying himself of course).
-He LOVES to watch his Praise Baby DVD. It's often our last resort when nothing else will make him happy!
-He loves to read books and sing songs... We have so much fun during the day playing together!!
-He loves it when his Daddy comes through the door at lunch time or after work.. It's so much fun to see his face light up when he hears Drew's voice...
-He's loving all of his vegetables although green beans weren't really his favorite... He's become quite the little eater with a spoon.. We weren't sure for awhile, but he's really caught on to it..
